Why Multitasking is the worst thing to follow ?

In maximum of the today's corporates we very often come across the buzz word... "Muti-tasking".

In the fast paced work environments, limited resources and squeezing profits, the demand of the professionals who can simultaneously do a number of jobs at a time increased.

These persons were respected and admired and slowly and steadily the added expectations from these persons started increasing.

This created a peer pressure on the persons who were though focused yet precise and perfect in the task given to them. The yield form the particular task was high, but overall the expectation from them to get the added yield and perform simultaneously from different tasks increased.
And the cycle begins ....

Till that time there was nothing wrong. But slowly in the name of multitasking, the additional responsibilities keep on increasing to the employees. The yield was good till the multitasking was limited to 2-3-4 tasks. But now the level of expectations for the multitasking increased and in each task people are supposed to give the 110% results.

Unknowingly, this has resulted in the lower overall yield in each task, increased level of frustration and no sense of achievement in the employees.

Also, this is not benefiting either the the organizations or employees.

The organizations now have to rethink on this strategy of giving multi tasks to the employees.

Instead giving them limited focused jobs wherein they can perform their best and yield the maximum output. This will result to better employee satisfaction, better output from tasks and better work culture.
